Services remain suspended in hotspot areas – Joburg Water

JOBURG – Joburg Water appealed to residents to act responsibly and desist from lawless acts that result in the disruption of much-needed services.

Johannesburg Water (JW) temporarily suspended water and sewer maintenance in the areas that are affected by the Gauteng shutdown yesterday, July 12.

Joburg Water said in a Twitter post on July 13 that its ‘services remain temporarily suspended in hotspot areas and will resume until it is safe to do so’.

“The current volatile environment is impacting negatively on service delivery, JW has temporarily suspended water and sewer maintenance services on areas serviced by the Klipspruit, Avalon, Ennerdale and Southdale depots,” Joburg Water said on Twitter.

The water entity added, “The recent acts of violence and lawlessness continue to endanger lives and disruption of service delivery. JW remains committed to render services as law enforcement agencies bring calm into the city.”

Joburg Water added that services remain suspended in hotspot areas, ‘and will resume when it is safe to do so’.

“Water trucks will only start now delivering water in various informal settlements if we notice any threats we will have to pull the trucks out. We will however communicate that decision,” Joburg Water said.
