EVATON.- Applauding from the streets of Evaton, Bongani “Elias” Kalkop, known as K-Chainz or K-Chainz wase Vaal/De Mc, is a vocalist and MC specializing in the Amapiano genre.
K-Chainz’s musical journey ignited at 12, with 12 years in the industry since 2010. The 27-year-old was born and bred in Evaton West. K-Chainz wase Vaal was a football player but decided to quit after a leg injury, focusing on music instead.
Music may not have been his first love, but he adores it and aims to make a significant difference in many lives. He also mentors a team of young footballers.
K-Chainz started an entertainment company called ‘Ke Vaal Mo.’ He authentically faced the music industry, which was the hardest decision of his life. K-Chainz stated that since he started, he has had no regrets; instead, he works hard daily to improve as an artist.
He has been on three radio stations: Sedibeng FM, Thetha FM, and Infinity Wave.
His first gig was at Peso Lifestyle, formerly Carlin Black Label, in June, hosted by King Tonicade. He proved himself and ended up collaborating with many producers and artists on their next projects.
He co-created the Vaal Fastlane and Peso Pens Down festivals in June and December, showcasing his capabilities in hosting and organising events, with Peso Pens Down’s 2nd annual event being a success. He has released 23 singles, including “Liga” featuring Sech De Mc, “Ke Vaal Mo” featuring DJ Troshka, Mpumza 929, Em Deekay, and Wend, as well as “Ka Nzima.”
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, K-Chainz wase Vaal mentioned becoming a single father after losing the mother of his daughter two years ago, along with his grandmother the same week.
Despite the pain, he remains emotionally strong for his child, using music as his outlet. For his children’s sake, he keeps moving forward and striving to do his best. To cope with grief, he entertains fans and focuses on music, acknowledging that it’s the only way to keep going.
K-Chainz is a proud father of two, drawing motivation from his children to achieve more. K-Chainz’s dedication has not gone unnoticed, with his brother describing him as hardworking, persistent, and self-motivated.
