Colourful bazaar draws large crowd

The Wesleyan Church in Manaba hosted its fundraising bazaar last Saturday.

Much to the relief of the organisers of the Margate Wesleyan Church’s fundraising bazaar held in Manaba last Saturday, the weather played its part in delivering blue skies and sunshine.

Rajen Pillay and Rani Naicker serve some delicious meals.

Gazebos loaned to the church for the occasion by various sponsors turned the grounds into a colourful mini market which offered a variety of goods for sale such as clothing, crockery and glassware, books, plants, bric-a-brac and hand made items but, as usual, food proved to be the star of the show.

Boerewors rolls, hotdogs, authentic curries, potjie and delectable baked goods, ice cold water and cold drinks as well as coffee and tea were on offer.

John Silver, a well-known local DJ, provided a wonderful selection of golden oldies and soon, members of the crowd were singing karaoke to beat the band. Lucky draws took place throughout the day.

Wonderful items donated by generous sponsors went up for auction; anything from a week’s holiday, car services, beauty therapy, a variety of exciting vouchers and a brand new tent.

The day gently wound down and as the members of the church began clean up operations, a feeling of gratitude pervaded and prayers of thanks were offered to the community in banding together to assist those in need of aid and support.
