Rotary Club supports mothers and newborn babies
Women in KwaZulu-Natal crocheted baby beanies, booties and blankets that were donated to new mothers through a joint Rotary and NGO project.
The Rotary Club of Johannesburg recently brought comfort and care to mothers and their newborn babies at Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston.
As part of its Mother and Child Project, the club handed over approximately 150 handmade baby booties, beanies, and blankets to mothers of newborns in August.
The donations were warmly received and will help provide extra warmth and comfort to babies during their first weeks of life.
The project was made possible through a collaboration between the Rotary Club of Johannesburg, the Rotary Club of Vanderbijlpark/Johannesburg and the NGO Beanies, Booties and Blankets in KwaZulu-Natal.
The donated items were lovingly crocheted by hand by women in KwaZulu-Natal. Their time, skill, and generosity helped turn simple balls of wool into practical gifts for families in need.
The project shows how community organisations can work together to make a meaningful difference.

Through the combined efforts of the Rotary clubs, the NGO, and the women who created the handmade items, the project brought warmth and kindness to mothers and their newborn babies.
The Rotary Club of Johannesburg will continue its work in support of communities in need.
