Thirty new mothers were celebrated at South Rand Hospital on Friday as part of a special breastfeeding event aimed at encouraging and supporting women as they begin their breastfeeding journeys.

The celebration was held under the theme ‘Strengthen what works’, with a focus on promoting breastfeeding and creating a supportive environment for new mothers.

As part of the event, each of the 30 mothers received a special goodie bag, while six mothers also walked away with teddy bear spot prizes following a lucky draw.

The prizes and goodie bags were lovingly prepared and donated by the Alberton Lions Club.

The Alberton Lions were represented at the event by Hannetjie Harvie, Helen Britz, Christle Verster and Penny Enslin, who attended as special guests in recognition of the club’s ongoing support for new mothers at the hospital.

The Lions contribute mommy care bags to South Rand Hospital’s new mothers twice a month, providing practical support to women during the early stages of motherhood.

The breastfeeding celebration offered the club’s representatives an opportunity to see the impact of this ongoing initiative and to join in celebrating the mothers.

“We are honoured to support initiatives that encourage healthy beginnings and strengthen families in our community,” the club said.
