History made at the Hill

Lyriche Drude is the best History learner in Gauteng

THE HILL – When Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane announced Lyriche Drude (18) from The Hill High School as one of the top subject learners, History was made.

Lyriche achieved 99 per cent in History (The Hill High School pass rate – 96,6 per cent) and was among top learners in Gauteng who were honoured by the Premier and Gauteng Education MEC Barbara Creecy at Sci-bono Discovery Centre, Newton, on Tuesday January 7.

“I’m very happy to achieve this. |In all I received three distinctions; History – 99 per cent, Life Science – 80 per cent and Afrikaans – 87 per cent. My History teacher, Mrs Mosikare, played a significant role in my success. She was always involved with her learners and the topics we debated were most intriguing. The one topic that stood out for me was ‘the factors which contributed in ending apartheid’. I will also like to advise other learners who are still at school to please set goals for themselves and achieve them,” she recommended, and gave special thanks to her parents for their support.

Lyriche’s passion is to do a degree in Biological Science.
