Mystery over the ‘stolen’ bike
Maulgue claims his bike was stolen at a flat where he resides but security is contradicting him
JOHANNESBURG – Grant Maulgue says his motorbike went missing on Monday morning February 3 at Gillian Court, Townview but security is saying his motorbike was stolen at another time by someone else.
Maulgue says he was riding home on Sunday February 2 at 10:45. About four houses from his flat, he almost hit one of two pedestrians, who were walking on the road as it was raining. They had an altercation and a few words were exchanged.
Everything was settled a few minutes later and he continued on riding to his flat. However, the next morning when he woke up, his motorbike was missing. But although he says he returned home with the bike, the security is saying he did not come back with the bike.
This leads Maulgue to sincerely ask if the two men he had an altercation with could come forward and prove that he returned to the flat with his motorbike.
Maulgue’s motorbike was uninsured and he is still paying for it. He depended on it to make a living as he was self-employed and used the bike to deliver reports for people.
He would be very happy if the two men could contact him as there are no cameras on the flat and nobody living with him to prove that he was riding his bike the night before it was stolen.
Maulgue says there are rumours at the flat that his scooter was stolen elsewhere; he never returned with it and that drug dealers came to collect it as he owed them money. Nonetheless, Maulgue dismisses these stories, claiming that these tales are spread by a security guard.
“I am willing to undergo a lie-detector test as well as multi-drug tests at or with SANCA to prove that the rumours are rubbish,” he said. The security guards are from an agent, and he hopes finding the two men he collided with could help proving and holding the security agency liable.
He said he knows the owners of the building may not be held responsible. Nonetheless, he is happy that his motorbike had Micro-dot and that Recovery-dot is investigating. Anyone with information can contact him at 011 432 2264 or grant.maulhue@yahoo.com
