JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Cllr Sidney Radebe of Turffontein Ward 124 is a 56-year-old ANC member who thinks being a councillor is challenging because people expect a lot from him.
Cllr Radebe first became involved in the public service in 2011 and was overwhelmed by the experience and till today, he has never thought about taking a break.
He is a loving and supporting Christian father, who believes his children are brilliant and intelligent people who will have an impact on this country one day.
According to the councillor, interacting with many people and always attempting to resolve their problems as best as possible is what gives him the urge to continue serving the people.
Radebe finds the fact that a councillor should accept that he or she is a servant of the people 24-7 exciting.
Most people do not know that Cllr Radebe is a Christian man who loves sports. He played soccer and rugby and he boxed. “I also enjoys outdoor life,” he says.
“I would like to thank my organisation, the ANC, for the support they have given me since my election as ward councillor, and the ward committee members who have shown commitment to their work in an endeavor to make the ward a better place for all its residents,” said the councillor.
“My message to the residents of Ward 124 is that we should work together and at all times attempt to make the ward crime-free and clean. The people should understand that it will take collective effort to get the ward where all of us want it to be,” he added.
