JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Motorists who avoid driving on Booysens Road because of slow traffic have made the corner of Nelson and Chamber roads a hazard to learners.
Weekday mornings concerns learners and commuters who cross the intersection on their way to school and work as motorists drive very fast.
Phomelelo, who worries about the safety of the learners, said: “The intersection is not safe. Learners use that road, so I would prefer if motorists drove with caution. It would be great if the metro police could come and help learners cross the roads during peak hours.”
ANC’s Ward 124 Cllr Sidney Radebe had a meeting with residents of Booysens and found that they would like to have humps in the roads to ensure safety.
JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said he will put a request to the JMPD commander so that a solution can be reached. He also encouraged people to send similar complaints to simonm@joburg.org.za
