Keep your home safe over festive period
The Community Awareness Training (CAT) was held on Tuesday November 11 at New South Veterinary Clinic in Biggarsberg Road, Glenvista for domestic staff and others who wished to attend.
GLENVISTA – Sarah Wissler from Glenvista Five Residents Association coordinated the meeting, with Brandon Jordaan (Maxidor) as guest speaker, a representative from D&D Tactical, staff from Keller Williams (KW) and Moffatview SAPS members attending the meeting.
Over 40 attendees were at the lesson and information was shared about looking after the home during the festive season. “Make it look like it’s business as usual while you are away on holiday. Get an automatic timer for lights inside your home, otherwise get a friend or neighbour to come and turn lights on at night and off during the day. Ask someone to remove post or newspapers from the letter ox or garden and also ask someone to keep the garden tidy. Nothing says, ‘no one home’ better than uncut grass. Leave a radio on in the house, which gives the illusion that someone is home,” said Kayde Francey from D&D Tactical.
Brandon spoke about the benefits of Maxidor and how important it is to have reliable security at home. “Check your security gates and make sure they are tamper proof. Maxidor security is one of the best and you’ll feel safe knowing your security is tight,” added Brandon.
With many gate motors being stolen in the area, Sarah advised home owners to have an anti-lifting bracket installed as soon as possible, especially if you are going away over Christmas and New Year. “This is a perfect time for criminals to rob your home while you are away. Make sure it’s secure with good security measures,” she added.
This was the last lesson of 2104 and on Friday November 28 a Christmas party will be held for CAT attendees. For more information contact Sarah 083 256 3453.
