JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The Southern suburbs district soccer play-offs recently took place at Mulbarton Primary for u.10, u.11 and u.12, and at Harvest Christian School for u.13 teams.
Rewlatch Primary presented a strong showing with their u.10, u.12 and u.13 teams, with all three making it to the final play-offs. The u.10 Rewlatch team lost 2-3 to Townsview Primary and the u.13 team lost 2-3 to Harvest Christian School. The u.12 team from Rewlatch managed to draw 1-1 during their final game with Townsview Primary, with the game going to a penalty shootout to decide its outcome.
In the final set of penalties, the teams were tied at 4-4. However, Rewlatch managed to score one more point, making it 5-4. Due to final match, Rewlatch Primary’s u.12 team were declared the Southern suburbs district soccer champions. They will now be playing in the district championships.
