Soccer day hosted by St Vincent de Paul
A great day was had by all who took part in a soccer day which was held at Marist Brothers on Saturday June 13 and hosted by a team of dedicated members of the church, sponsored by FNB.
LINMEYER – “This is one of the two big fundraisers we hold each year to raise funds for our church and its outreach in the community,” said Erica Forgiarini, president of St Vincent de Paul Society, La Rochelle.
Twelve teams took part, with ages ranging from five years to 30. Every single player on the day walked away with a prize!
Results were: Group B ages five to 10years – 1st Glory Boys 2, 2nd Glory Boys 1. Group C ages 11 to 13 years – 1st Untouchables tied with All Stars and 3rd Glory Boys 3. Group D ages 14 to 17 years – 1st Lewis #1, 2nd JCR and 3rd Great White Sharks. Group E1 ages 18 to 30 years – 1st FNB Loans, 2nd Troops Utd and 3rd FNB Maaibos. Group E2 ages 18 to 30 years – 1st Looking forward, 2nd Crazy 8, 3rdTeam Secret and 4th Gloo. Spirt Award – All Stars; Best Dressed Award – JCR and Best Sportsmanship Award – Looking Forward.
St Vincent de Paul which is affiliated to St Patrick’s Church, is responsible for feeding about 500 families on a monthly basis and weekly hold soup kitchens for many poor and needy residents in the South.
“Any donations of non-perishable goods will be gratefully received as well as second hand clothing. In this cold weather especially, our soup kitchens are always busy. Thanks to all our sponsors including FNB and Wrap n Bag,” added Erica.
