Microwave causes fire in Suideroord
On Monday July 13, the owner of a house in Suideroord arrived home to find smoke billowing out of the garage.
SUIDEROORD – A Sector 2 CPF patroller was passing the house and saw the owner in distress, stopped and sked if he could assist and called for backup from other patrollers. Apparently a component in the microwave caught alight and the fire spread very quickly.
The CPF patrollers removed the burning microwave from the house and Kibler Park Fire Station, who had been called out, arrived within minutes. They checked for the cause of the fire, confirming it was the microwave.
The house suffered smoke damage but otherwise there was no major damage caused.
