JOHANNESBURG South Garden Club held its Spring Flower Show over the weekend of September 26 and 27.
“This has been a magnificent flower show and we are over the moon to have 310 entries, the best ever,” said Maud Pickup, chairman of the club.
Cut flowers, plants, floral arrangements, herbs, orchids, jams and preserves were entered into the show. Anne du Plessis won first place, Lina Jones was second and Jenny Richardson scooped the third prize. Anne Helmrich won the best of the show title with her magnificent orchids.
“We’ve also had a fantastic response from the public this year and we are hoping our Spring and Autumn Flower Shows are going to become annual events which the public flock to. If this year’s show is anything to go by, next year should see us growing in both exhibits and the public coming to view the shows. Thank you to all those in the club who assisted with the show. A lot of hard work went in to it and for this I’m very grateful,” added Maud.
