End of National Senior Certificate examinations
The NSC examinations had the record highest number of 112 050 and 38 628 full time and part-time candidates

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – November 27 marked the last day of the National Senior Certificate examinations, which concluded with the visual arts three-hour morning exam, and music paper 2 comprehension exam.
The NSC examinations commenced on October 26, with the record number of 112 050 and 38 628 full time and part-time candidates, respectively, totalling 150 678. This is an increase of 6 972 compared to the 2014 enrolment of 143 706 registered for the NSC.
This year, the Gauteng Education Department has seen a drastic reduction in the number of irregularities and a more coordinated approach in the management and administration of the examination in the province. Exam materials were successfully escorted to nodal points on time.
The province was also administering the common examinations for the first time this year.
The common examinations also went very well. Any technical issues that did not affect the credibility of the examinations were dealt with.
The MEC has expressed his sincere gratitude to all officials who oversaw the NSC examination process. Marking of the papers commenced on Monday, November 30, 2015, and the marking will be captured on December 1.
The Minister of Basic Education, will release the results on January 5, 2016, while the Gauteng Provincial Government will release the results on January 6, 2016.
