City of rubbish

Pikitup says where possible residents are urged to drop off their waste at any of the 42 garden sites.

CITY of Johannesburg residents continue to be in limbo as the Pikitiup strike continues.

Pikitup says where possible residents are urged to drop off their waste at any of the 42 garden sites.

They tried to work with independent contractors to avert the situation however working conditions are still not conducive.

Ward 124 PR Clr Tyrell Meyers said, “Independent contractors have pulled out from helping Pikitup due to a hijacking situation and violence which resulted in the smashing of a vehicle’s windscreen. Their insurance does not cover rioting. Therefore no bins will be emptied until the strike is over. If the strike continues into next week there will be no services to any suburbs.”
