Four injured in early morning crash

ONE person was left in a serious condition and three others sustained various injuries in a head-on collision on South Rand Road, Linmeyer on Saturday, July 16.
Shortly after 09:00 paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found the mangled vehicles. One of the vehicle’s engine compartment was on fire. Members of the community used fire extinguishers to put out the flames.

Diana Morais said her father was involved in this accident, and is the person who was found with serious chest injuries and fractures. He was taken to hospital and is now home (July 18) and recovering slowly but surely.
“I would simply like to extend my sincere appreciation to the residents of South Rand Road, ER24 and Michael (and the rest of the Moffatview Community Police) and everyone who assisted us at the scene with everything from making sure we had what we needed to clear out cars, to throwing sand on the Opel that was on fire, to redirecting traffic and to assisting the accident victims with medical attention.
“The day passed in such a blur with completing forms and making phone calls but I will not forget the manner in which everything was handled so efficiently. My family and I are grateful. I do not believe we, generally, say ‘thank you’ enough and I would like to take this moment to do so,” she said.
