Sir John Adamson teacher found murdered

His body was reportedly found lying next to the Golden Highway.

THE body of a 28-year-old Sir John Adamson school teacher, Abrar Ahmed Jeebhai, was found a day after he was reported missing on Sunday, August 21. It is believed he was murdered.

Abrar joined Sir John Adamson High School in Winchester Hills in 2010, where he taught economics to Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners, as well as accounting in the Grade 11 classrooms.

Lenasia Rising Sun had reported Abrar was missing as they were informed that his cellphone was off and his vehicle was found in his driveway. He was last seen at his home in Lenasia.

Abrar’s body was found on Monday, August 22, by a pedestrian near the Golden Highway and the police realised that it was the same person who was reported missing.

The Gauteng Department of Education’s acting spokesperson, Oupa Bodibe, said: “On behalf of the entire education fraternity in Gauteng, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased educator and wish them peace and comfort during this difficult and sad time.

“We hope that the family will find comfort in the knowledge that we too share their loss and regard it as a huge blow to education in Gauteng and the country at large. We urge those with information to assist the police in their investigation to apprehend those involved in this criminal activity.”

Anyone with information regarding the teacher’s murder is encouraged to contact Captain Netshivodza from Lenasia SAPS on 011 213 6000 or 079 525 1428. Captain Netshivhodza said the police have not yet established the motive for the murder but investigations are ongoing.
