Why is saintly Sue Lubbe blocked from helping at Reuven?
We also wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the municipality of Johannesburg, for having repaired broken and burst pipes that have been wasting water for a number of years at Reuven.
There’s always a lot of hustle and bustle and merry making during the festive season, at the Reuven Old Age Home.
Despite the high cost of living, many organisations and religious groups and local businesses will be entertaining and pampering the elderly residents. Many of the senior citizens are looking forward to a bumper festive season. We’re most thankful to all our sponsors for their love and kindness and selfless service to the elderly – and for bringing some joy and happiness into the lives of the aged.
Many of us are sad and disappointed that Sue Lubbe and Friends aren’t allowed to organise their usual Christmas Dinner, on December 24. Most of us have been looking forward in great anticipation to this lavish function; especially the lonely, neglected and the abandoned.
Sue isn’t allowed to operate inside Reuven Complex, yet she’s done so much for Reuven residents and the improvement, repairs and maintenance of the buildings and the surroundings. The following are just some of the services she and her group have rendered:
• Her regular weekly distribution of food, vegetables and fruits to the residents.
• Distribution of good quality clothing, shoes, etc.
• Many of the faulty electrical lights and fittings were replaced and repaired.
• Day/night automatic switches were replaced. That resulted in the saving of electricity.
• Almost 200 flats were painted inside and outside.
• Curtains were cut, stitched and fitted, for all the residents who needed them.
• She arranged companies to cut the grass and clean the place.
• Residents’ birthdays aren’t forgotten. They’ll be taken out for a treat and pampering.
Sue Lubbe and Friends will always be remembered for her dedication, commitments and sacrifice in service to the elderly, the destitute, the needy and the deprived – and we wish to express our sincere gratitude. May she always avail herself as a channel through which God can enrich, feed and instil joy and happiness into the hearts of the aged.
We also wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the municipality of Johannesburg, for having repaired broken and burst pipes at Reuven that have been wasting water for a number of years. Thousands of litres of water were wasted daily. Water geysers that were broken for years, were also replaced or repaired. Even the grass has been cut and the area is clean.
S Richard, on behalf of the concerned residents of Reuven
