Coaches and players in the area are also welcome to join the club.

GRACE Land Football Club went out to the Glenesk area on June 20 to hand out beanies to young children.

The club is based in Wemmer Pan, La Rochelle and serves one of the poorest and most forgotten regions of the Johannesburg South area. It is almost one year old and has been delivering on its mandate to take children off the streets and offer them opportunities within the soccer sporting code.

DEDICATED TEAM: Coaches and managers who offer their time week after week. Joel Ponsonby, Elzaine Van Niekerk, Hendrik Mathimbi, Boitumelo Mathunda, Neville Van Niekerk, Ricardo Fredericks, Admire Sibanda and Sihle Sithole.

The vision of the club is to participate in, and revive, all sporting codes for the Johannesburg South Region including rugby, tennis, netball, swimming and athletics.

The football club is managed by volunteers.

Since the club is based in an area where poverty is rife, most children do not have all the necessary equipment for soccer as required of a typical local soccer team. This is precisely why Grace Land is situated where it is. But being poor doesn’t mean you have no talent – Grace Land FC is currently in third place on the log in the Southern Suburbs. They are looking for as many sponsors as possible. The club is making every effort to change the lives of all the children in the area. They need the support to keep children active within all sporting codes and off the streets.

SMILING: Captain of Grace Land Football Club, Bukhosi Ndlovo with a little one.

Coaches and players in the area are also welcome to join the club.

Neville van Niekerk, chairman of the club, extends a sincere thank you to Tyres and More Rosettenville for sponsoring the club’s first team kit.
