REWLATCH Primary School said goodbye to Joyce Costa who has been with them for 23 years on June 21.
Joyce has been a teacher for 40 years and she was retiring from teaching. She was described as a dedicated and hardworking teacher.
The school’s principal, Rob Symons, said he worked with her for many years and he will miss her.
“Thank you for all the wonderful things you have done at this school. You have made a positive impact on us and the learners, have a relaxed retirement and we will certainly miss you,” he said.

Joyce said the school must keep doing the best it can. She thanked her colleagues and the learners for the opportunity she had with them.
“Thank you to the principal, I know sometimes I gave him hard times but he tolerated me. Everyone here has a special place in my heart. I believe in life you always start again and again, with me retiring I will be starting again a new life out of school. Thank you,” she said.
The school choir sang for her, there were speeches from the teachers and the head leaders. The head boy, Mercalyn Gounder, and head girl, Bianca Odion, gave her a trophy to thank her and wished her well on her retirement.
