GAUTENG SAPS managed to arrest three out of allegedly more than four suspects who were involved in the armed robbery of the NWJ jewellery store in The Glen Shopping Centre that took place on the evening of January 25.
Through crime intelligence and information from community members, SAPS members tracked down these suspects, who are said to be accomplices to the direct robber in Berea, Johannesburg.
The three suspects appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on January 29.
At Diamond Exchange, a shop located in Hillbrow, over R40 000 worth of NWJ’s stolen jewellery was recovered. However, over R300 000 worth of jewellery was stolen during the robbery.
Gauteng SAPS have launched a manhunt to find the other suspects and recover the rest of the stolen goods.
The suspects are being held in question to help SAPS establish the whereabouts and identities of their fellow suspects, who are still at large.
The CHRONICLE awaits more information regarding the court case, which will be published as soon as it’s received.
Information provided by Col Lungelo Dlamini, spokesperson for Gauteng SAPS.
