#KleenaJoburg reloaded campaign wraps up in Turffontein

The multi-departmental campaign included the clampdown on illegal operations, such as illegal electricity and water connections by residents and businesses.

City of Joburg MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services Department (EISD) councillor Mpho Moerane led the #KleenaJoburg Reloaded campaign in Turffontein (Region F), which began on February 15 and ended on February 26.

The resumption of the #KleenaJoburg Reloaded campaign assumes an integrated service delivery approach where the City’s entities join forces to render a variety of services.

Initially scheduled to start in late 2019, the campaign was interrupted by the pandemic. Following the lifting of some of the lockdown restrictions, the campaign was relaunched as #KleenaJoburg Reloaded, which came with specifications and guidelines of the Covid-19 safety precautions.

Background

The #KleenaJoburg Reloaded campaign started in Region A at the Boulders Shopping Centre in Midrand in August, where clean-up operations included clamping down on businesses that were operating illegally and health and wellness awareness campaigns.

The campaign then moved to Region E in Alexandra, Region A in Ivory Park, then back to The Boulders Shopping Centre in Region A. The operation then launched in other regions such as Yeoville, before moving to Region D in Diepkloof, Emdeni and Ennerdale.
