The 10 suspects arrested by the SAPS in February appeared in the Johannesburg Central Magistrate’s Court on May 31.
The suspects are accused of planning to heist a cash-in-transit vehicle in Mondeor on the day of the arrest.
It led to the Rosettenville shootout with the police which left eight people dead.
When the suspects appeared in court there was a heavy police presence waiting for them along with some of the family members of the accused.
Eight of the suspects applied for bail with the defence lawyer reading forth their affidavits on why they needed to be released on bail.
The suspects are all saying they are innocent and are planning to open a civil case for wrongful arrest against the SAPS.
The Investigating Officer’s affidavit referred to the intelligence that was collected that led up to the shootout between the accused and officers.

The intelligence gathered also showed they were planning a heist that same evening in Mondeor, in the South of Johannesburg.
It was also in this affidavit that the Investigating Officer talked about the three police officers and one JMPD officer injured during the firefight including the heroics of the helicopter pilot that flew himself to hospital after being shot in the leg and multiple bullets hitting his helicopter.
The State indicated they will oppose the bail for the eight suspects due to the nature of the crime.
The magistrate adjourned the court for lunch before calling for another postponement for the investigating officer to confirm a few facts from his affidavit.
The suspects will appear in the Johannesburg Central Magistrate’s Court on June 7.
