SADAG invites community to support group launch

Join South African Depression and Anxiety Group as it launches its new free online depression, anxiety and bipolar support group.

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) will launch its new free depression, anxiety and bipolar support group on August 31 at 18:30.

The SADAG mental health support group will take place online using Zoom on Wednesdays, twice a month. SADAG support groups offer a place of warmth, understanding and support to those in need.

Support group leader Anthony Leader said the purpose of the group is to reach out to anyone who has been diagnosed and coping with anxiety or depression in a supportive, empathetic, online group.

“I felt the need to establish a support group for those with anxiety and depression with the motivation of reaching a wider geographical group through the convenient and safe accessibility of an online support group,” he said.

Leader said as a group member, one will possibly be enabled to openly express closed-off or hidden feelings in an accepting, unconditionally positive environment.

He said this expression could produce a cathartic release, encouraging an anxiety reduction.

“The support group provides supplementary support. It also allows group members the opportunity to form connections with others experiencing similar struggles and to learn from each other in an interconnected, non-judgmental, confidential atmosphere,” said Leader.

To attend the mental health support group, contact Anthony on 078 223 2200 or for more information on SADAG visit www.sadag.org or contact 080 0212 223 or SMS 31393.
