Self-published author wins award
Alberton resident Vusi Mabena has come a long way in his career as an author, actor, motivational speaker and poet.
Vusi won the biggest award in his writing journey.
“I was amongst 150 nominees who were nominated to be honoured with the AfriCAN Honoree Authors’ Awards,” said Mabena.
“Really I don’t know how can I pass my gratitude and appreciation to the awards founder for nominating me. I’m celebrating three years as a professional author of six successful books that I’ve published so far,” said Mabena.
The writer said he felt speechless and ran out of words and did not believe that he has accomplished so much over the years.
“My message to all youth, and to whoever is reading this, is to not dispute small beginnings because you don’t know where it’s going to put you and don’t be afraid or be ashamed to tell people where you come from,” said Mabena.
Mabena is busy working in the entertainment industry, namely on Generations: The Legacy, The River, Scandal, Skeem Saam, Makoti and Muvhango as an extra.

“I would like to pass my message of thanks to all the media journalists because they’ve been with me from day one,” said Mabena.
Mabena promises the readers more publications in the near future and commits that he will not quit putting pen to paper anytime soon.
