Security guards deployed at old age homes

Northam Place and Karina Place get security guards to help senior citizens to feel safe.

It is a great relief that senior citizens at Northam Place and Karina Place in South Hills received security guards.

This had been a thorny issue for these residents because they had been without security guards for some time.

Ward 57 Clr Faeeza Chame said for years she had been in communication with the Human Settlement Department for guard houses at the four municipal old age homes namely Swinburnee, Karina Place, Moffat View and Northam Place.

“Finally the city had money available. Swinburne and Moffat View had upgrades on their guard houses, however, Northam Place and Karina Place did not have any guard houses.

“They were always targeted for the thieves that came freely into the yards and stole from them. I’m pleased and excited that proper structures were built and they have 24/7 security guards. This is a great relief for our elderly people, they feel much more secure now,” she said.
