The event was a success and hosted members from all three branches of the Spartans Karate team for a fun, exciting launch.
Martin Venter, the club’s public relation officer, said new and old students were treated to a lesson by sensei Enzo Pillay (third dan black belt and South African Protea) under the guidance of sensei Kruben Pillay (sixth dan black belt and South African Protea) and a host of goodies and treats provided by the open day committee.
“The open day committee is made up of existing dojo parents and friends and they insisted that they are willing to help ensure the dojo grows and can benefit the lives of others as it has done for them and their children.
“The students demonstrated great passion for and confidence in their dojo as they went around in their uniforms, handing out flyers and taking part in a public demonstration.
“Spartans Karate has a great history with almost 40 years of experience teaching karate to all. The dojo looks forward to being a positive influence on the community and establishing itself in the Johannesburg area,” said Venter.
