Get ready for laughter and rhyme with Seussical the Musical Jr.

Jill Girard and Keith Smith are delighted to present the Peoples Theatre’s second production of the year, bringing together children, parents and all with a love of joy and laughter.

Don’t miss out on a rollicking experience with the fabulous Broadway show, Seussical the Musical Jr.

Previews begin on June 13, with the official opening on June 16 at the Peoples Theatre. The show will run through the winter school holidays, with the final performance on July 30.

Based on the much-loved Dr Seuss books, Seussical Jr draws its characters from several books. It is full of non-stop music, laughter and feel-good fun.

Dr Seuss has been a favourite children’s author for over 60 years and is loved for his use of language, rhyme and humour. The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, Green Eggs and Ham and many more were the stepping stones to reading for many children and introduced them to a range of wonderful characters and positive concepts.

“The Peoples Theatre strives to educate younger minds to create a stronger generation through theatre. All while having loads of fun and enjoying the magic that comes alive on the stage,” said Jill and Keith.

Set designer Grant Knottenbelt will bring Dr Seuss’ unmistakably quirky pages to the stage. The costumes are by Merry Whillier and Sean McGrath, and the additional costumes are by Luciano Zuppa. Ian Mills is the choreographer, and Coenraad Rall is the musical director.

The cast of kids includes learners from various schools who will showcase their talents for the first time on the Peoples Theatre stage.

Show times for the schools are Tuesday to Friday at 09:00 and 11:00. Show times for the public are 10:30 and 14:30 on weekends and school holidays.

Ticket prices are R165 a person for the public, R130 if you are a member of the Peoples Theatre Kids Club and R140 for the public accompanying members. For school group rates, contact the theatre directly. Book early to avoid disappointment.
