The commissioner of the Ekurhuleni District, Major General Anna Sithole, praised the work of the SAPS and other law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.
This followed the arrest of 146 suspects for various offences during the detectives’ suspects tracing operation, Shanela, which began on August 16 in the evening and ended the following morning.
Under the direction of Sithole, operations continued in the Brackendowns policing precincts on Thursday morning.
Law enforcers arrested 21 suspects for being undocumented, shut down two illegal liquor establishments and confiscated 24l of liquor. They issued 75 traffic fines totalling R26 900 to drivers and arrested two suspects for dealing in dagga.

On the same note, at an imbizo in Thinasonke, Brackendowns, the district commissioner, her deputy, Brigadier Lebohang Machakela, the ambassador of police, Nhlanhla Sizani, the acting station commander of the Brackendowns SAPS, and the CPF chairperson, Geoff Steyn, spoke to the community about crime-related issues and allowed them to voice their worries.

Sithole thanked the members for their efforts because no serious crimes were reported at the Breakdowns SAPS during the law enforcement agencies’ presence, which showed the criminals felt their presence.
