Earth Day celebrated at Mondeor Primary School

The assembly was successful in educating the learners on how to protect the place they call home, 'earth'.

Committed to helping people and the planet, the Mondeor Primary Generation Earth Council hosted Ella Bella Constantinides-Leite at their Earth Day assembly.

Southern Sun, Interwaste Waste Management and MetPacSA joined this assembly on the back of the school’s roadshow last month for Global Recycling Day and now for Earth Day.

Everyone pledged that in their everyday actions they will focus on becoming more green and more sustainable as best as they can.

Constantinides-Leite spoke to the children about being part of the solution and not the pollution. “It starts with us and we need to be passionate and vigorous about changing our habits, recycling is just one simple way of doing better.

Remember there is no “away”, we need to ensure that we are responsible for our waste and don’t think the problem ends when we throw it in the bin,” said Constantinides-Leite.
