Top scholars honoured at Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Awards
The results have also inspired the rest of the school body, seeing their peers succeed has motivated others to set their own academic goals.

In an exciting celebration of academic excellence, Nova Pioneer Ormonde Primary recently honoured its learners who excelled in the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Examination.
The school is a Cambridge curriculum school and at different stages in their academic journey, the learners sit for external exams set by Cambridge. This marks an important milestone for Cambridge schools.
The check-point examination is taken in Grade Six and gives feedback on the learners’ strengths and weaknesses in the key curriculum areas of English, mathematics and science. Additionally, the results are rated with a score ranging from 0 to 50.
School leader Happy Seshoka shared: “The score helps us with benchmarking our learners and stands as an opportunity for us as a school to see our progress. The awards ceremony celebrated our learners who got an outstanding achievement which ranges in the score from 41-50.”

The international check-point average for English is 34 and the learners achieved 33 where they rated within the high category.
The international mathematics average is 32 and the learners scored within the good category with 28 and the international science average is 33 and learners achieved a score of 37.
These achievements highlight not only the hard work of the learners but also the dedication and commitment of the teachers.
Associate Dean of Instruction and Learning, Howard Dhliwayo, further expressed how thrilled the school was about the impressive results. “We are proud of our learners. Their hard work and perseverance have paid off.

These results are a true reflection of their commitment to learning and this achievement is not just a personal success for each of them, but a collective success for the entire school.”
Two learners Tameen Bhyat and Owethu Ndiweni, who received awards, expressed their excitement.
Tameen Bhyat said: “I worked hard for this and it feels amazing to be rewarded for that effort.”
Owethu Ndiweni added: “I was scared about taking the exam because I was new at the school but after taking the exam and getting the award, I feel proud of myself.”
The school plans to continue fostering a positive, achievement-driven environment for all its learners.
