Nova Pioneer Ormonde welcomes new leader

Internationally experienced educator Simone Bock steps in as Nova Pioneer Ormonde Senior School’s new school leader, bringing fresh vision and global insight.

Nova Pioneer Ormonde Senior School is pleased to announce the appointment of Simone Bock as the new School Leader, with her tenure officially beginning on August 1.

Simone takes over the role following the departure of Theuns Opperman, the founding school leader of Ormonde Senior. After more than eight years of outstanding service, marked by excellence, compassion and innovation, Opperman will step down at the end of the current term.

The school noted that his leadership has left a lasting impact and that the community will be honouring his legacy in the coming weeks.

Simone was selected through a thorough and competitive recruitment process, which included interviews with Opperman, the school leadership team, and senior leaders from Nova Pioneer South Africa. She emerged as the unanimous choice to lead the school into its next chapter.

Nneamaka Eziukwu, Director of Schools for Nova Pioneer South Africa, said they are excited to welcome Simone to the Ormonde community.

“Her experience, warmth and vision make her an ideal fit. We look forward to the fresh energy she will bring,” said Nneamaka.

Simone brings a wealth of international experience, having worked in educational settings in the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, China, and in both public and independent schools in South Africa.

She holds a master’s degree in educational psychology, along with honours degrees in sociology and psychology, and a formal teaching qualification. Her career is defined by her ability to lead with empathy, mentor school teams, and drive academic success through thoughtful systems and structures.

Beyond her professional achievements, Simone is a mother of three daughters and is known for her approachable, strategic and student-focused leadership style.

In the lead-up to her start date, the school hosted several meet-and-greet events during June and July to introduce Simone to learners, parents and staff.

Nova Pioneer looks forward to this exciting new chapter under Simone’s leadership, as the school continues its mission to develop future leaders and lifelong learners.
