SASSA confirms September grant payment dates
Disability and children’s grants dates set as SASSA rolls out payments.
South Africans who rely on social grants can now plan, as the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the official September 2026 payment schedule.
According to the schedule released this week, payments will begin in the first week of September and will be rolled out by grant type over several days.
Key September 2026 SASSA payment dates:
• September 2: Older persons grant payments begin.
• September 3: Disability grant payments begin.
• September 4: Children’s grants, including the child support grant and foster child grant.
• September 7: Other grant types are scheduled to follow, in line with the 2026/27 payment calendar.
SASSA says staggering payments helps to reduce long queues at pay points and ATMs, and ensures beneficiaries have safer and easier access to their funds.
SASSA has stressed that the SRD Grant does not follow the same fixed dates as the main social grants.
SRD beneficiaries are given individual payment dates, so you should check your own status rather than relying on the dates above, the agency warned.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to check their payment status via the official SASSA channels to confirm their exact date.
