Diversity High learners excel in chess and mathematics

Grade 11 learners shine at chess tournament and Mathematics Olympiad.

Diversity High School’s senior learners emerged victorious at the Top Schools Chess Tournament held at Trinityhouse Glenvista on August 14.

The school was among 30 schools that participated in the tournament, with Diversity High taking first place. The learners will now represent the school at the provincial competition on August 29 in Benoni.

Principal Elize Bester and teacher Shiko Thantsha congratulated the learners on their outstanding performance, with special recognition for the school’s best player of the day, Babongile Khumalo.

The school also had a dozen learners participate in the South African Mathematics Olympiad, organised by the South African Mathematics Foundation.

Four learners progressed to the next round: Endinakho Khobeni, Jabu Vilakazi, Morel Yappi and Bryan Guemini.

The achievements highlight the learners’ talent and commitment to both academic and extracurricular activities.
