We are appealing to the generosity of the people of the South to please help us and work with us on Reuven Senior Complex.
We need to cut the grass, clean up gardens, fix leaks, plumbing, electrical plugs, plenty of things do not work and the list goes on and on.
Sue Lubbe and Friends have painted 14 flats and will continue until all our seniors live in clean and comfortable flats. Anyone wanting to sponsor paint for us, please contact Sue Lubbe and we also need funding to pay for the painter to do the work he does.
The other week the home had a visit from Housing Department and the good news is that they are proposing a drop in rental, which was organised by a few very dedicated people who live at Reuven, Bellavista and Moffatview, so well done guys! It is again the same issue, the more we network the more work can be done. Also congratulations to the committee that got the City Power to put in solar geysers, which should also bring down running expenses of the electricity on heating water for the seniors. Well done, City Power! Every bit of help makes it easier for the seniors to live a normal lifestyle.
The home has many needs, but we appeal to the public to please hand out products but always get signatures from the seniors when you donate to them. It is a system that is working extremely well at the moment. People donate and should be able to ask where their items were donated. Sue Lubbe and Friends started the system in September last year, we feed groups weekly, but they sign for the food. We are after all accountable to our sponsors to ensure that their products are not being pocketed, but goes where it is needed most!
The Government has called for 20 hours of community work for the 20 years of democracy, so we appeal to companies to come in and help us paint, clean gardens, do repairs and make a difference. This has to be coordinated as we are very busy and we need to do this professionally. We are also appealing to everyone who possibly could help us to purchase 100 pairs of shoes, desperately needed by the Suidheuwels Primary school for their feeding scheme to children. Every pair makes a difference, contact us for sizes.
It is only with help from above and the generosity of the public that we can do the work that is so much needed in the South of Johannesburg and surrounding areas. Let’s stand together as a nation and show the world what we are all about.
