Seniors thank Muslim community

‘We wish you a successful Ramadan Mubarak.’

I was astonished and delighted to read a message on my cellphone from the Archbishop of Canterbury, wishing all Muslims well for Ramadan.

In his message, the Bishop writes: “I wish all Muslims peace and joy as you begin this extraordinary and special time of prayer, fasting and spiritual reflection. We all benefit from the ways the Muslims in their diversity, seek to be good citizens and contribute to the common good.

“I met Muslims working and contributing to different sectors, to enrich our society in countless ways. May we continue to grow our bonds of friendship and work together for the common good, I wish you all a peaceful and flourishing Ramadan Mubarak.” (This message has been shortened).

This is also an ideal opportunity for the residents of Reuven Retirement Complex to wish all our Muslims spiritual strength and to grow in their steadfastness and unwavering determination to overcome all the evils of this world that we encounter in our daily lives, especially to hold in our prayers the excessive sorrow and cruelty and barbarism and inhumanity that the Palestinians presently experiencing. Our thoughts are with them, may the All Mighty uplift and strengthen the people of Palatine to greater heights and freedom.

We wish to express our gratitude to the many Muslim charity organisations who have been consistent in their effort to contribute in a variety of ways to attend to the needs of our senior citizens at Reuven and elsewhere. We hold you high in our prayers, may the Almighty continue to bless you with strength, health, inner peace and happiness. We wish you a successful Ramadan Mubarak.
