Strong PGA team to represent SA in Turkey
Mike Michell forms part of a strong PGA of South Africa team set to represent South Africa at the International Team Championship in Turkey next month.
PROFESSIONAL Golfers Association (PGA) of South Africa has announced a strong team to represent the country at the International Team Championship in Turkey.
Clovelly Golf Club’s Mike Michell, Serengeti’s Ryan Reid and the River Club’s Gregg Upton will seek to lead South Africa to their first victory in the PGAs of Europe’s most prestigious team competition, which will be played at the Gloria Golf Resort from December 8 to 11.
For the last two years South Africa has finished 14th in the competition. Scotland return as the defending champions whilst SA will hope to better their 2007 sixth place win.
Michell will be one of the strongest members of the team as he returns to a stage where he has finished first and fourth in the individual competition. Reid brings the experience of having played on the European Tour before.
“I think we have a very strong team who are passionate about doing South Africa proud in Turkey,” said Ivano Ficalbi, chief executive of the PGA of South Africa.
