Multi-talented athlete adds another feather to his cap

Danie Putter brought home two gold and one silver medals from the SA Master Athletics Championships.

Danie Putter bagged two gold and one silver medal at the South African Masters Championship 2024 held at the North West University PUK McArthur Athletics Stadium.

The event took place from May 2 to 4 and it featured hammer, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus, javelin, weight throw and discus throw, triple jump, and pole vault under different age groups.

Putter won two gold medals, one in the high jump and one long jump and a silver in 100m competing under the 50-55 age category.

“Our Master athletes start at the age of 30 years, up to over 100 years.

“During the tournament, I saw a 90-year-old gentleman running the 100m with a bang. This was amazing,” said Putter.

Danie Putter recently won two gold and one silver medal for high jump, long jump, and 100m at the Gauteng North Masters Athletics Championship.

“This achievement is for my granddaughter, Chandone Putter, to remember that when she is all grown up and her parents and grandparents are not there to make decisions on her behalf, she must live her life to the fullest.”

Putter passed his heartfelt gratitude to his coach, Stefanie Kotzer.

This master athlete also holds a gold medal for high jump which he received at the Gauteng North Masters Athletics Championship held in Pilditch Stadium in Pretoria in April.

Putter also won two gold and one silver medal for high jump, long jump, and 100m respectively at the Central Gauteng meeting.
