Three kids die during a fire in a school for the deaf

This is another sad case where South African children died from fires.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – A fire broke out this Monday morning and killed three children in a girls’ hostel at the North West Secondary School for the Deaf according to the Star Newspaper.

The fire service’s Isaac Maine told the Star: “At the res where they are sleeping, the fire started that side. The whole building, the hostel, the offices, the ceiling and the roofing has collapsed.”

This is another sad case where South African children died from fires. Meanwhile 66-year-old Chris Nxumalo, a pensioner and former steel and metal worker, has designed what he calls his contribution to curb the increasing number of deaths of children and adults who die in shack fires.

The innovation is a handmade candle holder that is designed to hold a candle upright and knip the flame once the candle is burned to its foundation.
