Pioneer Academy can accommodate more students

The expansion of the buildings will accommodate the fresh intake of students for 2016.

ORMONDE – AS part of Pioneer Academy’s growth and expansion, the Pioneer Academy Ormonde campus broke ground in August by expanding the buildings to accommodate the fresh intake of students for 2016.

The construction began during the August school recess and now the building is almost complete. There are an additional six classrooms, two studio spaces, and a collaborative teachers’ workroom. Glass doors and walls will be fitted into most of the building, especially the studio spaces, to let the natural light inside and to enable transparency between teaching teams.

The foundation, floors and walls are already in place and the roof will be going up this week, with fittings and finishings to follow. “Even though we are on a tight deadline, will be finished with the building’s construction by the end of the year and are excited about the 180 students who will be placed in the new building,” said Lori van der Merwe, senior administrator at Pioneer Academy Ormonde.

In addition to the new building, the campus will also have its own swimming pool by January. The school is looking forward to welcoming the additional 300 students who will join in the new year.

“We are also happy to announce that an additional class will be added in Grade Eight and limited spaces have become vacant in Grade Seven for 2016, a core part of us growing our school and doubling in size next year. We invite parents of current Grade Six and Seven students to attend our open day which will be held on Saturday, November 7,” she added.

The open day is intended to showcase the school’s extra-curricular activities and parts of the teaching module. It will also be a great opportunity for parents and students to engage with the teaching teams.
