Working together to make a difference
"The strength of the community lies in the commitment of each individual."

An extensive licence plate recognition (LPR) camera initiative between Fidelity ADT, Mondeor SAPS and Mondeor CPF is about working hand to hand with other stakeholders to reduce crime in the area.
With cameras in Glenvista, Mulbarton, Bassonia, Glenanda and Liefde-en-Vrede, the area is well covered and all stakeholders are working towards a common goal.
The technology identifies and recognises vehicles suspected of being involved in crimes and on the SAPS wanted list when they are in the area and sends out an instant alert. This is not only to assists SAPS and law enforcement in locating vehicles suspected or confirmed of being involved in crime, but allows teams to respond proactively and immediately.
“Cameras cannot work in isolation. They need human interaction, hence the collaboration of forces on the ground,” said community development manager for Fidelity ADT Linda Goodenough.
“I have been working with these men and women for two years now and we are constantly learning from each other. There is a great deal of respect between all the stakeholders who share a common goal of always doing what is best for the community,” she said.
The strength of the community lies in the commitment of each individual.
“CPF work requires a dedicated effort from the community as these voluntary positions often take away family and weekend time from the dedicated teams that remain committed to making a difference,” she said.
“LPR technology is an important part of our community policing plan as the prevalent crimes in our area are committed using vehicles.
“Fidelity ADT not only has installed numerous LPR cameras which will assist tremendously, they also work very closely with the CPF and SAPS.
“We can only thank them for the investment they are making in our suburbs and look forward to working in partnership to deliver safer suburbs,” concluded Mike Fontes, Mondeor CPF chairperson.
