Alberton Matric Project welcomes new principal
Alberton Matric Project and Part-time Study Centre welcome Helen de Wet as the new principal.
She took over from Dirk Francis, who led the school for the past four years.
“Mr Francis made an enormous contribution to education and the upliftment of the community,” said Eben van Nieuwenhuizen on behalf of the school. “Management and staff thank him for his service and excellent leadership and wish him every success in the future.”
Helen has over 30 years’ experience in secondary and tertiary education. She is also known affectionately as Mama H to thousands of life sciences learners nationally, as a result of her extensive television teaching of life sciences and natural sciences on SABC 1’s Geleza Nathi and Mindset Channels 137 and 139 on DStv.
Her shows are broadcast into Africa and she has learners and teachers as far afield as Nigeria and Ghana making use of her work. Helen has also authored and co-authored numerous life sciences and natural sciences textbooks and has won awards for teaching and promoting education in Gauteng.
She has developed many distance/self-directed courses in both the sciences and creative arts for learners as well as adults. Helen is committed to the upliftment of learners who need an excellent academic foundation as well as a nurturing environment to complete their studies.
The Alberton Matric Project has introduced new subjects for 2021 and will continue to deliver excellence in education to the community.
“At the Alberton Matric Project, learners will find themselves in a comfortable, relaxed learning environment, which enables them to focus rigorously on their academic work, supported by a dedicated staff and excellent management,” said Eben.
