M.M.O.V tackles addictions and social ills through support group

A newly formed NPO in Eldorado Park needs assistance as they try to assist locals who are in need of rehabilitation.

The Mighty Men of Vella Foundation which is soon changing to The Mighty People of Valour Foundation is a non-profit organisation which runs a support group which focuses on tackling a number of addictions and social ills in the Eldorado Park community.

The organisation which is only three months caters to about 15 to 35 people from the community who are dealing with substance abuse, depression, pornography addictions, those who are contemplating suicide and those who have been affected by Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

Kurt-Lee Thomas is running the organisation however it is Luke Smith who is doing the counselling for the people who attend the support group.

“We do not only help the individuals but we also help their families and loved ones with counselling and support too,” said Thomas.

The support group is run weekly on a Monday evening at Kingdom Outreach Ministries. Those who are part of the programme are provided with transport to and from the church and they are also given food and toiletries.

Since the organisation is fairly new and has no sponsors, they are asking for assistance for sponsorships that are able to give in any form possible. The organisation is asking for sponsors or donations for clothing, shoes, food parcels, toiletries, money for data and fuel for the programmes. They are also asking for assistance for blankets, cleaning products, masks and sanitiser.

If you would like to sponsor or donate to the programme, you can contact Kurt-Lee Thomas on 071 814 0701 or Luke Smith on 083 593 9953.
