Orphans receive love and gifts at Othandweni

Glimpse of Glamour share a day with the children of Othandweni.

Last Saturday Glimpse of Glamour’s management and well-wishers gathered together at Othandweni Children’s Home in Jabavu and showered the orphans at the centre with gift and toys.

The children who were given different kinds of gifts and are from different areas next to the centre and event assistant organiser Nhlanhla Mabizela said it was time an event of this magnitude was hosted.

“I’m glad that everything went well according to our plans and all the children who attended the event managed to receive a toy.

“It was just the right time that we host this kind of event to motivate and inspire these less fortunate children.”

Miss Deaf Africa director Nokuthula Mbatha from Swaziland said this was a unity building event and was aimed at promoting the spirit of Ubuntu among locals.

“The event was just aimed at offering children with gifts but it ended up turning into a global event as there were people from far flung areas coming here to put the smiles on the orphans faces.

“It was great being here playing with children, sharing life’s stories, motivating and inspiring them, I have learned a lot myself.

“I would really encourage other residents to always visit orphanages in their areas and volunteer their time or donate anything of value which will help cheer these children.”

Glimpse of Glomour founder Palesa Mboweni said they always expose themselves to assisting the less fortunate.

“We always host these kinds of event at least once a month where we donate clothes, food parcels, motivate young people and expose them to different edutainment activities.

“Our donations differs as per season, we do have winter donations, school semester donations and Christmas donations and we always make sure that whatever that we donate is of sentimental value.”
