Eight-year-old, Lebogang Makala from Batsogile Primary School was allegedly beaten and kicked by school bullies on February 14.

It is claimed that the Pimville school didn’t report the matter and Sekhonyama said that will also be investigated as the school has been told to send all the questions to the department.

her mother Martha Makala said Makala went home from school that Friday limping and had swollen legs and told her that three boys had kicked her for no reason while she was playing with other girls at school.

“The family came to our offices to report the case and we immediately dispatched a team to the school and a team to assist with counselling for the mother of the deceased and the school,” Sekhonyana said.

She said the department is looking into why this matter was not reported by the school.

Sekhonyane said the family has requested space during this mourning period and will speak when they are ready.
