Scores of people gathered at the Protea Magistrate Court this morning to support the family of the girl who was allegedly stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend.
Members of the Community Workers Programme gathered outside the court as the accused made his second appearance in court.
Valdene Jacobs died on October 18 at the fire station after the fire fighters came to her rescue after being stabbed by her ex-boyfriend.
The family of the deceased want justice and the mother is hurt by her daughter’s death but still remained strong.
“We want justice to be served and he must get life sentence.
“Valdene was my only daughter and she was only 19 years,” said Melane Jacobs, mother of the deceased
ANC Women’s League also came to court to support the family and fight against children and women abuse.
“We came to support the mother of the deceased because are we are also mothers and we are here to stand together as women and fight against the killing of our children,” said Miriam Masoetsa Chairperson of ANC Women’s League in Ward 17.
The hearing was postponed to November 13 due to the shortage of water they are experience at the Protea Magistrate Court.
