PUSH expands services

The centre is set up as a clinic.

The PUSH centre in Kliptown launched a new building on Monday where counselling and health screenings will be conducted from.

PUSH was established 15-years ago with the hope of bringing treatment within reach of the community.

Planning for the building started late last year and director Lorna Fisher says it wasn’t easy to reach the end.

“We had to beg a lot but we thank God for making us courageous,” Fisher said.

Although the centre won’t issue medication, trained nurses will do tests and screening on various chronic illnesses.

They will also act as a referral.

“The place will restore dignity and pride,” Fisher said.

Counselling will be held more privately than previously.
