Naledi Police make 29 arrests over the past week

Police note an increase in drunk driving charges in deep Soweto.

The following information has been provided by Naledi Police Stations communications officer Thulani Mbambala.

Last week Wednesday

Two men aged 23 and 29 years were arrested for theft  after being found in the possession of stolen Addidas and Lacoste sneakers valued at R 1 800.

On Thursday

-A 38-year-old man from Naledi was arrested for shoplifting at Naledi Shoprite and was found in the possession of cheese valued at R 44.00 while another man was arrested for stealing chocolate at the same store on that day.

On Friday

-Members of the Naledi SAPS arrested 15 men aged between 20 and 45 from around Soweto were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in an operation that was conducted with the assistance of JMPD.

-A woman aged 26 was arrested for shoplifting after she was found with stolen items valued at R179.00.

On Saturday

-A 49-year-old man from Braamfischer was arrested for assaulting another 39-year-old man.

On Sunday

-Six shabeens that were operating without a licence were closed in the Naledi policing area and the owners were fined.
