Stabbing landlord sentenced

Man sentenced gets six years for attempted murder.

Abey Moagi has been sentenced to six years behind bars for attempted murder. The 33-year-old from Pimville was sentenced by the Lenasia Magistrate Court on Monday.

Moagi was accused of stabbing a 26-year-old man who was a tenant at his home in January this year.

According to police reports, the man who was stabbed was woken up by a loud bang on the roof of his shack on the morning of January 29.

“When he went out to check what was happening, he found Moagi throwing a brick on his shack. The victim asked what was happening but Moagi swore at him before getting in the main house and coming back with a table knife which he used to stab him in the forehead,” said constable Thuli Ngwenya.

The tenant was rushed to Baragwanath Hospital where he was treated and released. The Kliptown police would like to thank all the witnesses who helped them secure the conviction.
